Philosophy
Shamanism, hypnosis, psycho-therapy and western esoteric schools all have some tenets in common. They all believe that our subconscious mind is akin to a projector that creates our reality. The film the projector plays is an amalgam of our deeply held beliefs, memories, emotions and habits.
Often it seems like we are not in control of the script or the actors performing in our own movie. It can be unknown to us that our director is a wounded child or a secondary egoic structure for example. Or we might see a negative pattern but not know where the director’s bullhorn is hidden within us. It is for this reason that I believe in combining modalities.
I believe that shamanism excels at illuminating aspects of the psyche, mind and soul that are not integrated. It is the appropriate tool to return these unintegrated aspects and the power that they represent into a cohesive state. I believe that the collectively agreed upon forms of spirit guides, power animals, and ancestors are simply emanations from the personal subconscious or the collective unconscious. It is by striving to be in relationship with them that we access greater power within ourselves.
